In the series we present the success story and SNAP 2017 preparation tips shared by Rewati Kachhwaha, SNAP 2016 topper with 99.82 percentile and a student of MBA 2017-19 batch at SIBM Pune.

The success mantra by SNAP toppers is more important for the SNAP 2017 aspirants as the SNAP syllabus, test sections, number of questions, time duration in SNAP 2017 will be similar to last year exam, although the SNAP 2017 exam mode has changed from paper based test to online computer based test. SNAP 2017, the MBA 2018-20 entrance exam for all the 15 Symbiosis B-schools will be held on December 17, 2017. The last date to apply for SNAP 2017 closes on November 24, 2017. SNAP 2017 will be the first online SNAP test in the history of SNAP exams. What was your overall preparation strategy for SNAP 2016?
Rewati (SNAP topper): My idea was to keep the preparation simple yet systematic as I had to manage both my work and studies. My serious preparation started from August 2016. I first finished each section one by one namely QA, VARC and DILR from the study material of the coaching centre.

I used to practice daily for around 4 to 5 hours in order to get my basics cleared. After that I started devoting 2 hours to each section daily and worked on sections in which I was lacking. During the last 1 month, I took mocks mostly comprising of last 10-year question papers, one every day and other 3 hours for self-study. I believe consistency is very important. Please share your sectional preparation strategy for SNAP 2016? How did you prepare for each section English, Quant, DI, Reasoning, GK? What study materials and books did you use?
Rewati (SNAP topper): Firstly, I did work on my basics of each section. I used books such as Sarvesh Verma and R.S. Aggarwal to work on my basics.

For English I had to read a lot from various newspapers and magazine ranging from diverse topics.

I solved a lot of question papers and analysed the same which gave me an approach to my studies. Was there any particular section that you were weak at? How did you overcome this challenge?
Rewati (SNAP topper): Yes, initially I was weak at Data Interpretation but the key to ace in this section is practice and that too in a stipulated time. Improving my calculation speed and working on my accuracy helped me a lot in this section. Developing the skills to solve different types of case lets is also required which comes only through practice. How can candidates use Mock tests better? What is your advice?
Rewati (SNAP topper): Taking mocks is the first step but to take them in an environment that is similar to the actual helps a lot on the final day. After taking mocks, I benefitted from it only after analysing it as that gave me clear picture of what my strengths are and on what topics I need to work on. Did you go to offline coaching center? What role does a coaching center play?
Rewati (SNAP topper): Yes, I joined TIME’s Mock test series in Ahmedabad along with Endeavor’s classroom course. It helped get my doubts cleared on regular basis and the mock tests helped me analyse my national ranking. But it depends on what any individual is comfortable with. Other than SNAP, which exam did you appear?
Rewati (SNAP topper): I appeared for CAT, XAT, IIFT AND TISSNET Please share your strategy for the SNAP Day. What was your last-minute preparation? How did you plan your SNAP test taking?
Rewati (SNAP topper): As I had given numerous mock test, I was clear on which section to attempt first. As such no last minute preparations, I relaxed a day before the exam. I started with Quant followed by English and then moved on to other sections. Which institutes did you apply for admission?
Rewati (SNAP topper): For SNAP, I applied for SIBM Pune and SCMHRD. Please share your GD/WAT topics & PI questions at different institutes and the ones who offered you admission?
Rewati (SNAP topper): At SIBM Pune, we were shown a newspaper cutting and were asked to choose a topic from that newspaper cutting and discuss on the same. The extempore topic was- Karma is fallacy.

Interview mostly revolved around my job and my role at my workplace, my strengths and weakness and how much passionate I was to pursue MBA degree. They wanted to know in which specialization I was interested into. Which B-school you decided upon and why?
Rewati (SNAP topper): I chose SIBM Pune as they support extra-curricular activities along with academic. During my GD and PI, I observed that the entire process is managed by students and was quite impressed by their student driven approach.

It carries behind a legacy of about 40 years and has been amongst the Top MBA colleges of India consistently. Any message you would like to share with the candidates preparing for SNAP 2017.
Rewati (SNAP topper): As SNAP is going online this year, be well informed about the exam pattern but at the same time be prepared for surprises.

Do give a lot of mocks and find the areas of weakness and improve them. Staying calm and being positive really helps.

Stay tuned to for more success mantra stories and SNAP 2017 preparation tips from toppers.
