Exam Pattern for MAT December 2017
MAT is a national level management entrance exam that is held 4 times in a year in the months of February, May, September and December. The exam is usually of 150 minutes (2.30 hours) duration and it comprises of 200 MCQ type questions. MAT exam is conducted in both ‘ONLINE’ and ‘OFFLINE’ mode. It is the choice of the exam-taker to choose the mode in which they wish to appear.

Each MCQ carry 1 mark for correct response and 0.25 marks shall be deducted (negative marking) for attempting the incorrect choice. The question paper is divided into 5 sections as mentioned below:

• Data Analysis and Sufficiency – 40 Questions
• Intelligence and Critical Reasoning – 40 Questions
• Language Comprehension – 40 Questions
• Mathematical Skills – 40 Questions
• Indian and Global Environment – 40 Questions

There shall be a provision of negative marking for wrong answers, for each wrong answer.

MAT December 2017 Exam Pattern:

As we have talked earlier as well, that MAT is conducted in both online and offline modes. Candidates can choose any mode as per their comfort and the paper pattern will be same for all the candidates.

MAT is a 150-minute test which will include 200 questions. Each question will carry one mark and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions.

MAT includes 5 sections. These are Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills and Indian & Global Environment. Each section will have 40 questions and there is no sectional time limit for any section.

Language Comprehension: – Language Comprehension section of MAT will include Vocabulary based questions, Reading Comprehension, Sentence Rearrangement, Sentence Correct and Grammar, Fill in the blanks, Critical Reasoning, Error Spotting, Sentence Completion and Verbal Analogies.

Intelligence and Critical Reasoning: – Topics needed to be done for this section are number series, alphabetical series, analogies, analytical reasoning, calendars, verbal reasoning, blood relations, direction sense and coding-decoding.

Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency: – This section of MAT includes questions on tables, pie charts, line graph, bar graphs, data case lets, multiple graphs and data sufficiency.

Mathematical Skills: – This section of MAT has probably the highest number of topics in it. For Mathematical skills section, you will need to cover topics like ratios, percentages, approximation/simplification, profit & loss, time speed & distance, simple and compound interest, number system, quadratic equations, functions, HCF LCM, averages, geometry, permutation and combination, probability, time and work, height and distances etc.

Indian and Global Environment: – This is another section with a vast number of topics in it. One will need to study taglines, officials, products, and events of major companies, major news related to sports, economy, politics. Some other topics included are history, books and authors, famous personalities, and famous awards& honors.

With just two to three weeks left for the exam, candidates need to be fully determined towards the exam to get the best results. Now there can be two types of candidates approaching the exam, one those who are taking more than one management entrance exams this season, like CAT/SNAP/IIFT/NMAT, and second those who are only appearing for MAT.

  • Once the application form is obtained, the same needs to be filled
  • Paste a recent colored passport sized photograph on the form
  • Submit the form at AIMA office

Online Mode:

  • Click on online registration by candidates for December 2017 tab
  • The candidate will be redirected to a page where candidate can apply through the link of fresh candidate or already logged in candidate
  • Already logged in candidates need to enter their email ID, Date of Birth and enter submit
  • Fresh candidates need to create log in to apply online
  • Candidates need to fill in their personal details and academic qualifications

Next, candidates need to pay the fee online using the following:

a) Online Payment: By registering online via Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) payment. Detailed procedure is given on the MAT website link.

b) Demand Draft: Obtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1271 plus GST in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at Delhi from any bank. Then register online along with the DD details.

c) Cash: Obtain form with MAT Bulletin/CD against a cash payment of Rs 1271 plus GST from listed Nodal Centres of AIMA OR from AIMA, New Delhi.

Candidates can choose to or not to upload their photograph and signature at this time
Candidates paying the application fee through Demand Draft need to draw the DD in favour of “All India Management Association”, payable at New Delhi Candidates not uploading their photograph and signature need to take a print out of the application form, paste their photograph on it and sign in the space provided on the application form. Next, the form needs to be sent to AIMA, New Delhi.
